Our Staff
Ms Tonya, Academic Director
Since 2008, Ms Tonya has been our Academic Director and Lead Guide. She began working with children in 1997 as a volunteer and a classified substitute for the Beaverton School District. She became a Montessori Classroom Assistant in 2001 and after five years, she wanted to learn more about Montessori and studied to be a Certified Montessori Guide.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, camping, and just being outside.
She has a B.A. in Accounting from DeVry University, and is a Certified Montessori Guide through the United Montessori Association.
Ms Angelica, Classroom Guide/Assistant Director
Ms Angelica joined Smockville Montessori in 2024 as a classroom assistant. Ms Angelica has worked with children in Nevada before moving to Oregon. Ms Angelica completed her Montessori Guide training in 2025.
In her spare time, she enjoys time with your two children, camping and the theater.
She is a Certified Montessori guide through North American Montessori Center.
Ms Amie, Classroom Guide
Ms Amie joined Smockville Montessori in 2022 as a classroom assistant and substitute. Ms Amie has worked with children for many years starting in Virginia. She earned her Bachelor’s in Arts and enjoys bringing her knowledge to children.
In her spare time, she likes to spend outdoors with her family and two dogs.
She is a Certified Montessori guide through North American Montessori Center.
Ms Angela, Classroom Assistant/Substitute Guide
Ms Angela joined Smockville Montessori in 2011 as a substitute, and then became part of our regular staff in 2013. While working in California she fell in love with the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori and began her path to become a Guide. Miss Angela has worked with children for 20 years, over 15 of which have been in Montessori schools.
In her spare time, she likes to read, take long walks, and spend time with her family and friends.
She has an A.A. in Early Childhood Education, and a Certification from the International Association of Progressive Montessori.
Ms Shiloh, Classroom Assistant

Board members
Smockville Montessori is a small Non-Profit organization and we are supported by a Board of Volunteers. These positions are voted on by the currently enrolled families. Teaching experience or professional experience is not required. A volunteer’s most important qualification is a genuine interest in helping our students succeed.
